I’m Mattie. I work with land, with people, and with the materials that bind us together. With a background in anthropology, art, and landscape architecture, I’m interested in how human culture and agency interact and affect ecosystems and ecological succession. In short, my biggest question is — How do we make a home here? How do we allow ‘here’ to make a home of us?

I work with people through garden projects and teaching.

I work with place through craft, farming, and writing.

I think you could switch those statements and they would still all be relevant.
